PROTOCOL BENEFITS

Engineered Outcomes

Central MC3R/MC4R AgonistCNS-Mediated DesireFDA-Studied Pathway

◆

Centrally acting melanocortin receptor agonist (MC3R & MC4R) stimulating desire pathways.

◆

Operates entirely via the central nervous system, independent of vascular or nitric oxide pathways.

◆

Validated in Phase 3 clinical trials with over 1,200 subjects for sexual motivation.

SCIENCE

How It Works.

PT-141 (Bremelanotide) is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide derived from alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH). Unlike PDE5 inhibitors which act strictly peripherally on vascular smooth muscle, PT-141 directly activates melanocortin MC3R and MC4R receptors located in the hypothalamus and limbic system.

This central action initiates dopamine release in the medial preoptic area, directly stimulating the neurobiological circuits responsible for sexual desire and arousal.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Onset of action in research subjects is observed within 30 to 60 minutes. PT-141 is designed for episodic, on-demand evaluation rather than daily chronic accumulation.

PROTOCOL NOTE

Available in 10 mg sterile vials. Strictly for laboratory research use.

FAQ

Protocol Questions

How does PT-141 differ from PDE5 inhibitors like sildenafil?+

PT-141 acts centrally via hypothalamic melanocortin MC3R and MC4R receptors to engage sexual arousal pathways in the brain, unlike PDE5 inhibitors which act peripherally on vascular smooth muscle.

What is the typical time-to-onset observed in research models?+

Central signaling activity is measured within 30–60 minutes following administration, characteristic of an on-demand receptor agonist profile.
